Intermediate Life Support Medics
Event First Aid introduced the
Level 1 Paramedic or 'Intermediate Life Support Medic' in
2009 to deliver higher level care to events and venues which
could not justify the presence of an ambulance or Advanced
Life Support Service. Every Intermediate Life Support Medic
holds a Certificate IV in Health (Ambulance) and meets the
requirements of our Queensland Health license to posess and
administer a range of emergency medications. These medics
can provide a wide range of interventions including:
|
Inhaled Pain Relief |
Medication for Diabetic Emergencies |
Medication for Chest Pain |
|
Medication for Asthma |
Advanced Airway Management |
Cardiac Monitoring |
Our team of Intermediate Life
Support Medics comes from a variety of backgrounds but all
have years of clinical experience. In order to maintain
their proficiency, we require our medics at this level to
complete annual skills refreshers and regular assessments
including written and practical examinations.
Our Intermediate Life Support
service is most often utilised as a single officer where
more than just 'first aid' is required; but at major events
we can deploy up to ten Intermediate Life Support medics in
a variety of roles including team leadership and control
room coordination. Our medics are always supported by our
team Duty Manager and Operations Supervisors who provide
oversight of all event staff.
