Advanced Life Support Medics
Event First Aid introduced the
'Advanced Life Support Medic' level in 2008 to deliver care
at high risk events which traditionally had been serviced by
ambulance paramedics or nurses. Our Advanced Life Support
team is a close knit group of qualified Paramedics (Advanced
Care or Level 3) and Registered Nurses with emergency
backgrounds, who meet the requirements of our Queensland
Health license to posess and administer a wide range of
emergency medications. These medics can provide a wide range
of interventions including:
|
Inhaled and Injectable Pain Relief |
IV
Drips and Fluids |
Chest
Pain Medication |
|
Asthma
& Allergy Medication |
Medication for Diabetic Emergencies |
Seizures Medication |
|
Medication for Vomitting |
Medication for Narcotic Overdose |
Advanced Airway Management |
| |
Advanced Cardiac Skills |
|
To ensure safe, responsible
and professional practice, our Advanced Life Support team is
required to undertake six monthly skills refreshers and
complete an ongoing professional development program. We
deliver our Advanced Life Support service in a variety of
ways including single-officer paramedics and two-officer
teams (where two paramedics and a vehicle are provided). We
have the capacity to deploy up to ten of these paramedics to
major events in a variety of roles including medical
oversight, triage and clinical supervision. Advanced Life
Support Medics also make up the majority of our operations
supervisors and team Duty Managers.
